The case of the Elephant, the butterfly and myself (Composition cont)

Time for another round of composition, i thoroughly enjoy it so bring it on. This time we were told to focus specifically on frame, and methods of placing three elements with greatly varying scales within it. Those three elements, which you can see in the title of the post are, an elephant, a butterfly and myself.

I quickly created a few ideas from this, quite a fun one to get my head round. Starting things off with myself and a butterfly sat within the x ray of an Elephant, Myself giving an elephant a butterfly tattoo, myself as a clown at a circus with an elephant that has a large butterfly painted face, and finally an aerial view of the top of a butterfly, closest to the frame, with myself riding an elephant below. I decided on the tattoo idea, simply because it made me chuckle.

The original thumbnail was a bit of a shambles, so i decided to add some more detail, darken the lines and investigate possible shadow placement.

So here is the final outcome, the second actually, i lost the first like a right clutz.. This one works better in terms of mapped elements anyhoo. so speaking of the composition, i feel the eye lands either on the mouth or eye of the elephant, with the crease of the cheek leading to the eye, and from the eye you follow both the tear and flap of the ear down to the butterfly tattoo on the arm. From here you follow the random ribbon of the tattoo down to the tattooist, little old me. With this i feel you follow the bend of my arm, through the elephants arm and loop back to the start with the elephant trunk.

Quite happy with this as an outcome, it plays with the expectation of the set brief, and i feel it looks pretty polished. My only issue with the image is a mistake on myself, i'm using my left hand to tattoo when i'm right handed, a small personal issue that thankfully doesn't really effect the overall image negatively in terms of composition and frame.
