All this talk of how the characters should be feeling and posed to show that kinda makes me feel like a bit of a screen director, oscar bait imagery.
So I was really interested to see how things would come together for these images, theres a good amount of elements, things could easily get a bit messy and convoluted. I had to have a little test with Orwell and his friend, luckily I feel the emotive elements still come through with just blocked in forms for them. Keeping the line work would just mean more detail to these images, and considering a farmer and some text are yet to be added to the scene, it felt right to give the pair minimal detail.
Including the farmer, strings and all really gives the images a flow. Without him the top and the bottom of the pages seemed to be separate entities , whereas the farmer joins the two, being a bit of a compositional bridge, guiding the eye from top to bottom. The Images still seem to be pretty even, with the second looking like it cant really take any more elements. This is a bit worrying considering there is yet to be some text added. Speaking of which I should start thinking about typography for the book.
