Having a comic is nice, but it needed a cover, something to draw the eye on the shelves. It’s a balancing act, creating something that is more akin to a refined, detailed illustration, but also relates to the comic, and doesn’t lie about the comics theme and style. Since gold as a material features heavily in the narrative, I thought having jess as a golden statue would make for an interesting cover.
I started with a cover that just played with rendering the material of gold. Clearly something that wouldnt be used for a final cover, I started this before finalising the character design, so she would be inconsistent with the actual character.
I also just threw in a text example, but wouldnt dare use that for the final design. I actually feel like I should make something new, my own typeface for it.
