Richard Hawley came to visit us for a pretty special briefing, alongside his primary gig poster artist Nick Rhodes. For this brief, Hawley wishes for us to propose some designs for his next tour, the Discracelands tour.
So, im pretty fresh to this guys work, but have actually heard a few of his tracks, through adverts and most specifically within the Banksy: Exit through the gift shop documentary. Theres quite a clear, distinctive vibe coming from his music, and I find it strangely almost takes me to a place in my mind. Its calming, easy going and cheery. I feel as though Im in a open space, fields, fresh air when I listen to his music, really nice vibes. I feel like because of this I may make imagery for a location like that. Speaking to Teresa, she said that the name for the tour came from what he calls his recording studio, so Im thinking a open field that features elements of a recording studio, or a recording studio that features elements of an open field.
I feel like Hawley appreciates an element of realism in his work, looking at the previous posters made by Rhodes, so Im not sure my work stylistically would be up his alley, so feel like Id need to make a concept that really captures his eye.
