We had a lovely trip to see the folks at colours may vary (Becky and Andy) and they were nice enough to give a talk about their business. It was quite an insight towards their lives, telling of how they came to be shop owners, their background and interest in art.
From this they started to talk about the space itself, how it is curated, something they clearly have a deep care for. They had a great deal of respect for the people that had presented work there. This led to some pretty honest information on their sales, what work they would be inclined to select, and what work sells the best in the store. Looking at the work they highlighted, Im pretty sure Im not in tune with their style, but this has really made me think about what stores may stock my work, and how to contact them.
